Dessert Please

As we all know sweets can be very addicting and we are told to skip on them to watch our weight.  Well even though this isn’t a “health” option it is a healthier option for pecan pie ( or as most say pecAAAn pie). Growing up my grandma use to bring at least 7 different pie with her on the holidays, and all of them were homemade!  But by far my favorite one was pecan pie.  There’s just something about it that taste like no other dessert. It just wasn’t Thanksgiving without it!  So if you must indulge in some dessert this pie is one of the better options, and at least the pecans contain protein…

Lighter Pecan Pie

No Butter, No Corn Syrup Healthy Pecan Pie Recipe - 8 Amazingly Delicious and Healthy Pecan Recipes - Shape Magazine - Page 7

what you’ll need:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon fat free milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 pie crust

Directions:

  1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. in a large bowl beat eggs until foamy
  3. add all ingredients and stir
  4. pour into the pie crust and bake 30-40 minutes (until the top is lightly brown)
  5. enjoy!

Obviously I don’t recommend eating dessert every night, but sometimes its just good for the soul! Which is why southern food is my soul food!  It makes you feel good no matter what.
