Delicious Dehydration!

I don’t know about you guys, but growing up (and to this day) one of my favorite snacks is beef jerky!  My mom use to make this all the time for my sister and I and it is just amazing.  I personally think that beef jerky is a good snack because its low in carbs and taste really good!  This recipe does use a dehydrator but I personally think that everyone should own one.  They are a good investment because you can use them for all kinds of things like fruit, vegetables, and this delicious beef jerky recipe I am about to show you.  This recipe is for a classic beef jerky that’s really simple and still really yummy!

Classic Beef Jerky

How To Make Beef Jerky<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-8123″ alt=”How To Make Beef Jerky” src=”” width=”600″ height=”799″ />

what you’ll need:

  • 1 flank steak ( around 2 pounds)
  • 2/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  1. Trim the excess fat off of the flank steak
  2. slice steak 1/4 inch thick across the grain of the meat (this makes it easier to chew)
  3. combine ingredients in a small bowl and add the sliced steak
  4. pour into a air tight zip lock baggie and refrigerate for about 24 hours
  5. drain steak and lay out on the dehydrator for 4-6 hours at 155 degrees
  6. enjoy!

Now since you already have your dehydrator here’s an apple chip recipe

Cinnamon Sugar Apple Chips

what you’ll need:

  • Apples (depending on the amount of chips you want, I would use a couple)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar

  1. first cut apple into thin slices (the skin will be more tough so if you want to peel the apples do so before slicing)
  2. sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and toss to make sure they are all coated (you can use more than 1 tablespoon depending on preference)
  3. arrange apple slices on your dehydrator in a single layer
  4. turn on and let dehydrate for 18-24 hours
  5. enjoy!
